Sales Qualified Lead (SQL)

Definition

A lead that has been vetted by the sales team and confirmed as a genuine opportunity. SQLs have typically had a conversation with a sales rep and meet the criteria for budget, authority, need, and timeline.

Why It Matters

SQLs represent real pipeline. Tracking the MQL-to-SQL conversion rate reveals whether your marketing and outbound efforts are generating genuinely qualified opportunities or just volume.
